Cold rinse your hair
It turns out the temperature of your water may just be important as the product you’re using. “If you can handle it, use cold water during the shampoo and conditioning process, if not give a quick cold rinse at the end, after the hair is being conditioned,” says David Gouygou, co-founder and director of BruneBlonde.
It’s not like you have to shower with cold water the whole time. You can start with warm water, which opens the cuticle and allows your shampoo and conditioner to penetrate the hair. Once you leave the conditioner on for a few minutes, rinsing it out with cooler water will help seal the conditioner into the hair. “Cold water helps to smooth and close the cuticle of the hair, making it less prone to frizz and also enhances shine,” he adds.
Keep your hair moisturised
Moisture is key to beautiful, healthy-looking hair. “Dry hair is like a sponge, it absorbs all the humidity in the air,” says Emmanuel Faipoux, co-founder and artistic director of Emmanuel F. Using a pH balanced hair care can help seal hair cuticles without strippig your hair sebum, which is a natural oil that keeps the hair healthy and moisturised.
“Use an efficient moisturising shampoo and conditioner every time you wash your hair. Do a deep moisturising treatment twice a week to make sure the hair cuticles are closed with a natural hair pH between 4.5-5.5, which is the best hair quality condition you can have,” he advises.
