The Star Treatment: Checking Out Victoria Beckham Beauty
It’s all about that (clean) celebrity glow.
We’ve lost count of the number of celebrities—Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner, Gwyneth Paltrow, Drew Barrymore and so on and so on—who’ve started their own cosmetics brands. But one that particularly caught our attention is Victoria Beckham.
Not only has the woman formerly known as Posh Spice taken the fashion world by storm, she’s also joined forces with one of the most in-demand beauty experts of the moment: Augustinus Bader. After working with the renowned stem-cell expert to create her Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum and Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer, Beckham has just released a radiance-enhancing version of the Priming Moisturizer aptly named Golden.
“The moisturiser instantly elevates your glow and delivers serious skin-enhancing results,” says Newby Hands, global beauty director of Net-A-Porter, which was the exclusive retailer of the product in its first two weeks of release. “With the same high performance as the original, the lightweight crème is developed with a blend of Augustinus Bader’s technology and powerful clean ingredients to boost radiance, deeply hydrate, reduce the appearance of pores and renew the skin, in a new golden-bronze glow.”
Like all Victoria Beckham Beauty products, most of which are colour cosmetics for eyes and lips, this new release meets the standards for clean beauty thanks to the exclusion of any ingredient that is deemed harmful or has questionable or inconclusive safety data. The brand maintains a list of more 1,330 banned ingredients and focuses on safety, transparency, education and inclusivity.
But how does it look and feel? For starters, it has a lightweight texture that’s actually cooling on the skin—perhaps from the inclusion of nutrient- and antioxidant-rich avocado oil. The blend of amber and gold pearl definitely gives it a warm and subtle metallic colouring. And while it can be worn all over for a subtle glow, without or under makeup, those with fairer complexions may prefer to use it as a highlighter (you can see how Beckham herself applies it on her Instagram page).
Our verdict? If you want a highlighting product with skincare benefits, look no further. But your best bet might be to use this in addition to Beckham’s original moisturiser and serum for that perfect “your skin but better” look for summer. We’ve already added to cart...
