The Hall of Wellness Awards Launches to Recognise Industry Talent
There’s never been a better time to come together.
At a time when spa, beauty and wellness professionals are faced with unprecedented challenges, one company is hoping to elevate the industry through the recognition of its most extraordinary individuals.
“During Covid-19, we saw so many staff in our industry losing their jobs or being put on furlough or unpaid leave,” says Kathryn Moore, managing director of business, training and recruitment solutions provider Spa Connectors. “As a company we decided to direct our efforts towards the people on the ground through support, CV updating, sharing of content and training. We felt they needed something to look forward to, to motivate them, so the idea of an awards [programme] that recognised individuals was born.”
The Hall of Wellness Awards opens for nominations today, July 1, and a virtual ceremony will be held December 4. Together with the awards, Spa Connectors has created a scholarship fund to offer training to those in need.
“Hence the awards are now a CSR initiative to give back to the people and to create a stimulus within the industry’s training sector,” Moore says. “We feel this will upskill anyone from therapists to managers whilst they are waiting for the industry to come back online.”
Designed to be inclusive of the industry across all levels, the awards include categories such as Global Therapist of the Year, Global Wellness Personality, CSR Contributor and Rising Star as well as 18 regional awards ranging from Student and Nail Technician to Trainer and Group Director.
“There are so many people who work tirelessly to make the industry so abundant and they don’t get the recognition they deserve,” Moore explains. “Now, as we are painfully having to let go of so many people globally, we wanted to show them how much they mean to us and how grateful we are for their hard work.”
Winners, who will be selected by a panel of industry experts, will also receive training and mentoring from Spa Connectors, which works with schools to improve access to quality education and to develop a sustainable workforce for the spa, beauty and wellness industry.
